What are the reasons for the failure of steel wire braided rubber hoses during use
Time:2022-12-29Page views:2649Steel wire braided rubber hoses are often used in equipment hydraulic systems. When in use, the main focus is on the internal and external temperature and the conveyed liquid, which will be divided into different areas. So what are the reasons for hydraulic hose failure during use.
1. Fluid compatibility
Incompatible fluids can cause deterioration, expansion, and delamination of the rubber layer in hose components, and in some cases, the internal adhesive layer may also be partially damaged. The hose should be compatible with the liquid being transported, and the liquid should not only be compatible with the internal rubber layer, but also with the external rubber layer, joints, and even O-rings.
2. Dry air/stale air
Due to air aging or dryness, the internal rubber layer of the hose may produce many small cracks. Sometimes, this type of malfunction is difficult to detect because it can still remain flexible, but there may be signs of external leakage.
To avoid the problem of dry or stale air, it is necessary to first confirm whether the grade of the steel wire braided rubber hose is suitable for dry air. For these applications, hoses with PKR or EPDM inner rubber material can be chosen.
3. Bending radius
If the bending radius is not met, the hose component may fail relatively quickly. In vacuum or suction applications, if the bending radius is exceeded, it may flatten in the bending area, which will hinder or restrict the flow of media. If the bending is too strong, it may twist. To prevent malfunctions due to the bending radius, the recommended bending radius should be carefully checked.
4. Wear and tear
Hydraulic hoses are commonly used in harsh environments, and their effects will be evident on the pipe body. If not checked regularly, wear and tear may cause component rupture and leakage. If there is excessive friction between the rubber hose and external objects or even another pipe body, the coating on the pipe body will be worn off, causing wear on the reinforcement layer.
Steel wire braided rubber hoses are quite practical and solve many problems in daily life. Correctly assembled and installed rubber hoses will have a longer lifespan, thereby reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
